First Clare, now Namewee - expect Interpol to snub PDRM

Image result for mewee arrest after Islam insult

YOURSAY | What makes the PDRM think that Interpol would arrest singers, rappers and actors?
Just A Malaysian: I think the police have fallen into Namewee’s trap. He is a singer and publicity like this helps sell his songs. Now people in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and other Asians will take note of him.
PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) should use this opportunity to show the world how matured they are in handling this case.
Goldee: “‘We will discuss with JAIPP (Penang Islamic Religious Department) to know to what extent has the action by Namewee in singing and recording the act in the mosque insulted Islam,’ said Penang police chief Abdul Ghafar Rajab.”
How can police initiate arrest based on police reports and not on evidence?
CQ Muar: This is a typical case of "putting the cart before the horse". Indeed, how could the police embark on such an act of arresting and handcuffing Namewee in public even before they know the extent of his offence against Muslims?
This could only be determined after they had consulted and discussed with JAIPP. Why then the arrest before such consultation? This clearly shows even the police were uncertain of the offence.
What has gone wrong with this country under the leadership of PM Najib Razak? On the one hand, we're looking forward to Malaysia achieving advanced country status come 2020, but on the other, we are making a laughing stock of ourselves in the eyes of the world.
What will be the perception of prospective foreign investors in this country given the sensitivity and extremity of the laws in this country? Apparently, even the slightest suspicion can spark off such a drastic police clampdown.
JD Lovrenciear: Interpol's assistance? We must be kidding. And all over a song? Has the world gone into a raging, rabid war over this lad's misgivings so much so we now need even Interpol to intervene?
Malaysia, stop degrading our international good name further. There is already enough to push us into the tight corner, now that we have Americans questioning the Hillary Clinton funding.
Tony Soprano: For God's sake, here is a description of Interpol from Wikipedia: "To keep Interpol as politically neutral as possible, its charter forbids [my emphasis] it, at least in theory, from undertaking interventions or activities of a political, military, religious, or racial [my emphasis] nature or involving itself in disputes over such matters.
“Its work focuses primarily on public safety and battling terrorism, crimes against humanity, environmental crime, genocide, war crimes, organised crime, piracy, illicit traffic in works of art, illicit drug production, drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, human trafficking, money laundering, child pornography, white-collar crime, computer crime, intellectual property crime, and corruption."
In case any of you are trying to stretch and parse the meaning of "illicit traffic in works of art" in Interpol's charter to mean pursuing singers, you're wrong. It refers to stolen and valuable artwork such as paintings.

Wira: As far as I know, an Interpol notice is published only if it fulfils all conditions.
For example, a notice will not be published if it violates Article 3 of the Interpol constitution, which forbids the organisation from undertaking any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character.
Everyone knows that this case is not criminal in nature and in Taiwan, the song which is published does not violate the law of that country.
Anonymous 2336891439170985: Yes, the police are wasting their time and energy. First, don't expect Interpol to interfere in such trivial matters.
Secondly, Taiwan would not arrest or extradite them because in Taiwan there is no such laws as insulting a religion. Interpol depends on the local police to act on their behalf.
If Interpol refused to arrest Clare Rewcastle-Brown of the Sarawak Report, what makes the PDRM think that Interpol would arrest singers, rappers and actors?
Anticonmen: What is wrong about someone making fun of my religion? Religions are only different beliefs of the supreme infinite soul. There is no need to go into a frenzy.
GE14Now: There is this huge elephant in the room that goes by the name of MO1. This elephant packed at least US$681 million into his trunk.
The elephant is still walking around talking about dignity and doing right, while it is the very epitome of corruption and evil. Yet, what does the police do?
They send out requests for Interpol no less to locate singers in a video that is of no consequence. Their priorities are totally wrong and all this serves to demonstrate their lack of ability to catch the real culprits.
YHJ: Yes, why don't the police ask Interpol to help locate the alleged crooks involved in apparently helping MO1 pull off the biggest scam of the century?

Hardboiled: A bunch of entertainers entertaining thousands has the authorities going all out to catch them. A bunch of robbers robbing billions has the authorities sitting on their hands.
