Cops bust illegal moneylending syndicate in Kuantan

Police arrest six men, two of whom caught red-handed putting up advertising banners for the illegal moneylending services.

KUANTAN: An unlicensed moneylending syndicate here was crippled with the arrest of six men and seizure of items linked to the illegal activities.
The suspects, who were picked up during an operation dubbed Ops Vulture, have been remanded for five days.
Kuantan police chief Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Salleh said two of the suspects, in their 20s, were caught red-handed putting up a banner advertising their moneylending activities in Jalan Darat Makbar.
ACP Abdul Aziz said upon inspection, police found 12 advertising banners in their car.
In follow-up operations, police detained four other men, also in their 20s, in Teluk Chempedak and a house in Taman Ruby.
“Also seized were 1,392 banners, five automated teller machine cards, seven cellphones, 112 loan documents, three record journals and three cars,” he said yesterday.
In Seremban, three men were detained in connection with the seizure of 2kg of ganja from a car at a roadblock in Jalan Tampin-Seremban.
The suspects, aged between 25 and 32, were picked up at 12.45am yesterday.
Seremban police chief ACP Thiew Hock Poh said two slabs of ganja worth about RM4,000 were found under the front passenger seat. -FMT
