I'm not 'choice contender' for FAM chief, says Annuar

Former Kelantan Football Association (Kafa) president Annuar Musa has downplayed his candidacy for the post of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president saying he is not a choice contender.
Utusan Online yesterday reported Annuar telling his rivals not to be concerned with his participation in the race.
"I am expected to get only two votes, I don't have any state under my rule, I don't own any football teams, I don't hold any posts in any FAM member associations.
"I also don't have the 'resources to turn anyone’s dream into reality'," Utusan reported him saying, in a thinly-veiled reference to Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
The references mimick various statements that Tunku Ismail had made on social media and to the press over the past months.
"I am also a 'failure', I am also one who has been 'cah keting' (sabotaged) before the final whistle, and have been relegated to the bench," Annuar was reported writing on his Facebook.
"If I have 14 out of 20 bodies that have pledged support, then maybe I can be considered a threat.
"For now, I am just a Mat Terre (Kelantan supporter)," he added.
Annuar is currently suspended from his positions as chairperson of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) and chairperson of Pelaburan Mara Bhd (PMB) to allow an internal audit to be carried out to investigate several matters, including PMB and UniKL's sponsorship of the Kelantan football team, The Red Warriors.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has also questioned Annuar for four hours over allegations of abuse of power and misappropriation of funds.
To wait and see
Annuar while in Bachok yesterday added he will wait and see who else runs for the FAM post before deciding on his next move.
"The (FAM post) was empty, that's why I was nominated and I sent the form first, it's up to whoever who wants to run against me, I am not running against anyone," Utusan reported him as saying.

"Perhaps it will be Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Tunku Ismail, or whoever who wants to contest against me.
"When there is a new contender, then I will be able to decide, because I am open and the question of 'who challenges whom' doesn't arise," he said, adding there is still time for others to join the race.
The final list of candidates will be presented to FAM's executive council on Feb 20 to determine those qualified to contest.- Mkini
