Lim father and son head to Malacca tomorrow after resignations

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and his son, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, will head to Malacca tomorrow, following the resignations of four DAP elected representatives from the party.
Kit Siang is planning to hold a full day of walkabouts before meeting with members tomorrow night, while Guan Eng will meet party leaders there at night.
The visit is believed to assess the impact of the resignations which halved the number of seats controlled by the party in the state assembly.
DAP's sole MP in Malacca, Sim Tong Hin (Kota Melaka), quit the party yesterday alongside Lim Jak Wong (Bachang assemblyperson), Chin Choong Seong (Kesidang) and Goh Leong San (Duyong).
Kit Siang, who started his political career in Malacca, will start his full day programme with a walkabout at a market in Duyong at 7am.

"Kit Siang will seek the views of the grassroots, especially DAP members, on the resignation of the four DAP elected representatives and do whatever is needed to improve the situation in the lead up to the 14th general election," DAP central executive committee member Liew Chin Tong said.
The four elected representatives said they are quitting the party because they believe DAP has swayed from its political objectives.
Acting DAP chairperson Tan Kok Wai, however, welcomed the resignation and equated the four as a "cancer" to the party.
Condemning the resignations, Guan Eng said the move was a GE14 "gift" for BN.- Mkini
