Seoul blares news of Jong-nam’s murder to N Korea using loudspeakers

South Korea is reportedly using giant loudspeakers to blast news of the murder of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, to its northern neighbour.
South Korea this week employed its banks of high-decibel loudspeakers to ensure details of the death of Jong-nam were heard loud and clear at the border area between the two countries, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported, quoting Seoul’s MBC TV station.
“Kim Jong-nam... died after being attacked by two unidentified women at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia,” blared the message from the speakers and replayed by the TV station.
“Malaysian authorities said four suspects are North Korean nationals including one who has been arrested,” it said.
Seoul's defence ministry however refused to confirm the reports over the latest broadcast, citing national security concerns.
The South Korean military has for years blasted a mix of world news, propaganda messages and K-pop songs across the border using dozens of loudspeakers, which target North Korean soldiers. They have a range of around 10 kilometres.
The propaganda broadcasts are intensely hated by Pyongyang, which at one point threatened to shell the loudspeakers.
The North is also known to have installed a number of loudspeakers near the border to carry out its own propaganda broadcasting in a bid to drown out the sound from the South.

The North's state media had remained quiet on the killing until it came out with a statement denouncing the Malaysian investigation into the murder and also blamed the murder on Malaysia, although it did not name the person who died.
On Feb 13, Jong-nam was at KLIA2 for a flight to Macau, when a woman came from behind and wiped his face with her bare hands, believed to be sprayed with poison.
Jong-nam, who arrived in Malaysia from Macau on Feb 6, sought help at a customer service counter and was rushed to Putrajaya Hospital, but died on the way.- Mkini
