Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said he is ready to face corruption investigations if anyone has evidence that he was corrupt.
"If there are any evidence linking me to corruption, report it to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
"I am willing to face anything if there is evidence... because I am not just Datuk Seri Hishammuddin but I am the defence minister whose job is to defend national security," he is reported by Bernama as saying.
Hishammuddin, who was appointed Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of special functions last week, said this at an integrity pledge ceremony during the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) monthly gathering at Wisma Perwira, Kuala Lumpur today.
He also labelled the Defence Ministry personnel involved in graft as traitors.
"It is not only immoral but taints the dignity and integrity of Mindef personnel, and is detrimental to national security.
"I will not compromise on this and I hope those in Mindef, the Malaysian Armed Forces and defence industry firms who receive large contracts (from Mindef) will maintain high integrity," he was quoted as saying.- Mkini
