Old men shouldn't talk too much, advised Najib

Respect for the elders should be cultivated, advised Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Although, he added, there are some old men who should not talk too much.

"What is high culture, a society which respects high culture?

"(It is) respecting the elderly, even though those who are old shouldn't talk too much," Najib said during his speech at the Culture Congress 2017 in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia today.

This garnered laughter and applause from the crowd.

Though he did not name anyone, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had been vocally critical of Najib since 2015.

The 91-year-old had quit Umno last year and subsequently formed splinter party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) with several other former Umno leaders.
