Adam Rosly is Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali’s ‘gatekeeper’. Hence Rafizi Ramli is trying to bring Adam down so that Azmin will fall. Once PAS makes its move at the end of this month to divorce PKR, and the PAS EXCO Members resign from the Selangor government, Azmin can most likely be ousted. But first Rafizi has to implicate Azmin in Adam’s corruption crimes.

Declare your assets, Rafizi Ramli tells Adam Rosly again

PKR vice-president says the party’s leadership needs to distance itself from the ‘private crisis’ Adam is facing over his ‘extraordinary wealth’.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Rafizi Ramli has called on Ampang PKR Youth chief Adam Rosly to declare his assets and take leave from his post pending the outcome of his trial.

This is to prevent the party from being dragged into allegations related to his “extraordinary wealth”.

The PKR vice-president today said the party’s leadership needed to distance itself from the “private crisis” Adam was facing in light of the upcoming 14th general election due next year, saying it could be called any time now.

Rafizi said the charges against the 28 year old, who carries a “Datuk” title, had created fodder for PKR’s political rivals to attack the party.

Rafizi’s real target is Azmin and Adam is merely the catalyst to bring Azmin down

The Pandan MP said his stand had not changed since November last year when he asked Adam to make public his assets to avoid “wasting everybody’s time”.

“I am still of the opinion that Adam Rosly can clarify the situation so as not to drag PKR into his personal crisis by declaring his assets as soon as possible.”

He said the situation had become different now because Adam’s refusal to make a declaration had affected PKR’s good name, with BN-friendly media using the issue to accuse the party of being smeared in corruption and misappropriation of funds, he said.

“Because of that, my colleagues and I in the leadership will propose that action be taken to distance the party from this private crisis.”

On April 21, Adam was charged under Sections 32(8)(c) and 89 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act for providing forged documents as valid documents and giving false evidence.

The 29 year old had been arrested by MACC the day before for investigation into his “unusual” wealth.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) also seized Adam’s RM1.2 million castle-styled bungalow and five luxury cars.

His bank account, and that of his wife, which contained over RM212,000, were also frozen.

Adam’s apparent wealth caught public attention after Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos claimed that he owned a bungalow and a number of luxury cars.

Adam denied any wrongdoing, saying he had earned his money from business ventures and an inheritance.

Rafizi said PKR must be seen to be firm in upholding its moral standards and trust, higher than other parties.

He said Adam should either be made to take leave from party post he holds or be subjected to relevant procedures of the party’s disciplinary board, as also suggested by PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

He brushed aside concerns that taking leave would set a precedent for any member who is on trial to do the same.

He said Adam’s case was different from those where there was clear ill intent to prosecute for political purposes and where one is charged for services done for the people, such as revealing Official Secrets Act (OSA) documents for public good.

He said such cases were different from a person who holds rank in the party but would not clarify his wealth.
