ZAHID IN SABAH TO DOUSE OR SPARK FIRES FOR NAJIB? PUSHED OUT OF TOP INNER CIRCLE, DPM MEETS MUSA AMAN, ALSO ON NAJIB’S CHOPPING BOARD

SEMPORNA – Barisan Nasional is playing “fireman” by dousing the “fires” sparked by the Opposition in the state.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Barisan’s people-oriented development programmes would be further increased to fight the “fires” created by Parti Warisan Sabah.
Former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is leading Warisan, which was set up in October last year.
“It is not just about us taking on the role as firemen here. These fires need to be put out completely,” he said when asked about the emerging challenge from Semporna MP Mohd Shafie’s party.
Dr Ahmad Zahid was confident Sabah Barisan and the Umno leadership would address the issues raised and convince the people that Barisan was the only party which could safeguard their future.
Speaking to reporters after the opening ceremony of the Semporna Al-Quran Studies Academy in Bugaya here, Dr Ahmad Zahid said Barisan’s foundation was strong with its track record of listening and addressing the needs of the people.
“Even if the roof is leaking, you don’t need to demolish the house.
“We just have to fix it by delivering our promises,” he said, adding that Barisan’s pillars would withstand any assault.
Urging the people not to make decisions when they are emotional, Dr Ahmad Zahid said opposition parties would always create issues to confuse the people.
“We don’t have to be defensive. We must explain to the people what we have done in the state and country,” he added.

The event also saw some 300 Warisan members rejoining Umno.
Earlier in his speech, Dr Ahmad Zahid said Sabahans should not have made the mistake of changing governments like they did during the Usno and Berjaya eras in the 1970s and 1980s.
He said under Barisan, Sabah was undergoing rapid development under a stable government.
“I know there is much more to be done and we will deliver,” he said.
Later, Dr Ahmad Zahid held a closed door meeting with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and Semporna Umno leaders before opening the new Semporna Umno office.
