THE feud between two cabinet ministers intensified when Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan fired back at his colleague Nazri Abdul Aziz in the ongoing Tourism Tax row.
Abdul Rahman Dahlan, who is Kota Belud MP in Sabah, posted on Twitter that the issue is not about machismo or about seniority, but one of manners and courtesy.
“You keep talking about manliness. But this isn’t a question of manliness. This is about manners and courtesy.
“There is no such thing as old or new in the cabinet as there are times when even the Prime Minister’s ideas were objected to. What more an old macho minister,” he wrote.
Nazri, who is tourism and culture minister, earlier chided Rahman and called him a “new minister” when he tried to defend Sarawak minister in charge of tourism Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Karim had called for a deferment of the Tourism Tax and said he will not back down even after being told off by Nazri in an “arrogant and uncouth” response.
Sabah and Sarawak politicians from both divides have opposed the tax, seen as another policy that peninsula Malaysia seeks to impose upon the two states.
