KUALA LUMPUR ― Officials from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) paid a visit to the Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) headquarters here this morning as part of investigations into alleged corporate mismanagement.
A team of over a dozen MACC officers accompanied by auxiliary policemen have seized documents belonging to suspended FGV chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad, The Star Online reported.
Zakaria had been interviewed four hours at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday to aid investigations over transaction irregularities between an FGV subsidiary Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd (DOP)and an Afghan company, Safitex.
The FGV CEO of one year has been embroiled in a public spat with the company’s chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad over certain boardroom decisions.
Zakaria who is also the company president has been reported urging the MACC to investigate both FGV and him to determine if there were any discrepancies in dealings by him, the management or any of the superiors.
Zakaria, who has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, has vowed to take responsibility and resign from his posts if there was any proof to show he had violated corporate governance practices.
MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Azam Baki was previously reported saying the commission is looking into allegations surrounding the world’s third-largest palm plantation operator.
Zakaria and the company’s chief financial controller Ahmad Tifli Mohd Talha were ordered to go on indefinite leave by the FGV board on June 6 pending investigation into the DOP-Safitex payments.

It is understood that their objective is to procure documents in relation to the commission’s investigation on Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV).
This follows FGV CEO Zakaria Arshad’s visit to the MACC headquarters yesterday to have his statement recorded.
Zakaria, who has been forced to take a leave of absence pending an internal probe, had told reporters that he had urged MACC to conduct a thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, FGV chairperson Mohd Isa Abdul Samad will address the press soon at the same building.
