Former headmistress denies allegations on labelled cups

Roslinda Kamis claims the policy of segregating cups for Muslim and non-Muslim students was not implemented during her time.
Cawan-bukan-islam,-non-muslim-cupPETALING JAYA: The former headmistress of a school currently mired in controversy over its policy of segregating cups for Muslim and non-Muslim students has denied issuing any such directive.
“I’m not the one responsible for the labels. Pupils usually just drink off the water dispenser. During my time, there was no such labelling,” Roslinda Kamis told FMT.
Her denial came a day after FMT reported that the policy was implemented during Roslinda’s time as headmistress.
But Roslinda, who was transferred to another school in the capital last month after a four-year stint at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Puteri in Hulu Langat, said the allegations were baseless.
FMT’s visit to the school yesterday showed that the labelled cups placed at the water dispenser existed, as seen in pictures that have gone viral.
Although the school authorities refused to comment on the matter, FMT spoke to a canteen worker who said on condition of anonymity that the labelled cups had been placed at the water dispenser since last year under the former school principal.
FMT tried contacting the new headmistress but has yet to get a response.
A member of the communications unit of the Selangor state education department who wanted to be known as Zulhelmi said today he had visited the school yesterday afternoon after receiving instructions from the director. - FMT
