MACC raids Phee's service centre

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today raided Penang exco Phee Boon Poh's service centre in Butterworth.
Phee, who is also Sungai Puyu assemblyperson, was brought by MACC officers to his service centre at around 12.15pm.
The MACC officers spent around an hour at the office, according to The Star Online.
Phee was later seen escorted out of the office in orange MACC clothing and handcuffs, said the report.
On Friday, MACC also raided Phee's exco office at Komtar and home, the same day he was arrested after giving a statement to MACC.

Phee was yesterday remanded for five days for investigation.
He is being investigated for allegedly instructing a local council not to take action against an illegal factory in Bukit Mertajam which had operated for 10 years.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had defended Phee, stating that illegal factories in the state were undergoing legalisation exercise since the DAP-led government was installed in 2008.
Prior to Phee's arrest, the MACC had also seized documents related to the factory from the Seberang Prai Municipal Council and also raided the factory in question. - Mkini
