INITIALLY NAJIB WAS OK BUT THEN HE STARTED TO GET GREEDY: HE’S BEEN AT THE TOP FOR TOO LONG – MUHYIDDIN TELLS LARGE UMNO CROWD IN MALACCA TO DUMP CORRUPTED PM

MUHYIDDIN Yassin went for the jugular last night when he accused Prime Minister Najib Razak of abusing his powers by robbing the country of its wealth through state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The Bersatu president, speaking to a crowd of about 1,000 in the Barisan Nasional stronghold of Alor Gajah in Malacca, said Najib could do what he did simply because he was powerful, being the prime minister and finance minister.
“I saw what he had done. He acted alone because as prime minister and finance minister, he has the power to do as he likes,”   said Muhyiddin, who was deputy prime minister before he was dropped from Najib’s cabinet for speaking up on 1MDB.
“I was around when he became prime minister. Initially, there was no problem, but when you start sitting at the top for too long that is when people change and he started abusing his power.
“He was involved in the biggest scandal in the country and the world,” he said, referring to 1MDB, which is the subject of investigation in several countries, including the United States, Singapore and Switzerland.
Billions of ringgit were misappropriated from 1MDB. Najib was cleared of any wrongdoing by Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali.
“Najib said 1MDB was the sovereign wealth fund to develop the country, but he used it to cheat the us.
“He is willing to sacrifice the country for his own personal use,” Muhyiddin told the crowd at the Save Malaysia, Save the People roadshow, or Jelajah Semarak campaign.
Muhiyiddin said Najib’s actions were a disaster for the country.
“If he invested the funds and lost them, then there is a basis for it. But with 1MDB, there was abuse of power.”
Muhyiddin also said although he is 70 years old, it is still not time for him to retire.
“We must continue to fight to preserve our country and give the people a better government than Barisan Nasional, which is Pakatan Harapan.”
Muhiyiddin also touched on PH’s alternate budget announced yesterday where the opposition coalition said it will abolish the goods and services tax (GST), end highway tolls, provide free education at public universities and save RM20 billion by curbing wastage and corruption.
