Azmin unveils new healthcare scheme for Selangor civil service

Selangor has introduced a new health insurance scheme for the state's civil servants.
Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali unveiled the "Skim Peduli Sihat Penjawat Awam Selangor" at the monthly state civil service meeting today, after praising the state's civil service for its hard work and contributions to the state's progress over the past year.
"The takaful scheme is an endeavor to help Selangor civil service members obtain quality healthcare.
"The scheme will guarantee protection to over 10,000 personnel of grade 44 or less," said Azmin in his speech.
"The welfare of public officers are always close to my heart.
"While there are negative voices against the civil service, and want it to be sized down, I take a different view," he said, expressing his belief in the potential of the civil service to bring progress.
The menteri besar also announced another initiative for women civil servants, a special scholarship for 20 bright candidates to further their studies for a bachelor's degree in Islamic studies, Arabic, qiraat and Islamic banking.
'FDI without jeopardising sovereignty'
Speaking on the state's performance, Azmin noted they have started the year with a “big bang”, announcing the fruits of their Japan mission as having brought home a new investment by Oji Group worth RM1.26 billion related to industrial water supply in Selangor.
Others, he said, include investment from logistic firm Nippon Express and other Japanese firms exceeding RM500 million.
He said while the investment is lauded, he cautioned “investments must benefit the people and the state without jeopardising the sovereignty and interests of the state”.- Mkini
