Kit Siang: DAP doesn't intend to eliminate MCA, Gerakan, but...

GE14 | DAP has no intention of eliminating MCA and Gerakan, assures DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang.

According to Lim, DAP is incapable of performing this feat, and only MCA and Gerakan are capable of eliminating themselves.

"No other political party can eliminate MCA or Gerakan, as only MCA itself can eliminate MCA, and Gerakan itself can eliminate Gerakan, by adopting policies and measures which deprives them of all public support, because they have rendered themselves completely irrelevant and marginalised.

"Can the DAP cause the MCA and the Gerakan leaders to adopt policies and measures which make their political parties completely irrelevant or marginalised?

"No, unless the MCA and Gerakan leaders have become puppets or stooges of DAP," Lim said in a statement today.

He was responding to an op-ed by MCA publicity spokesperson Ti Lian Ker, who questioned the motive behind DAP’s purported intent to eliminate the two BN parties.

According to Lim, DAP is taking on MCA and Gerakan directly to help Pakatan Harapan win enough parliamentary seats and "end the uninterrupted Umno-BN rule" of the country.

DAP has recently placed heavyweights to contest in seats currently held by top MCA and Gerakan leaders.

This includes fielding Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong against MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong in Ayer Hitam, and Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming against Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong in Teluk Intan. - Mkini
