KOTA KINABALU: The exodus of 754 Parti Warisan Sabah members proved they realised the party was unable to fulfil its promises, said Sabah Umno chief Musa Aman.
He said some 120 Warisan members from his constituency of Sungai Sibuga in Sandakan had also quit Warisan recently
“Some of the Warisan leaders, who were formerly with us in BN, portrayed themselves as heroes.
“But heroes do not leave their parties. No, they are not heroes, they are traitors to the party,” he said in his speech at the opening of the SK Kg Bahagia in Batu Sapi, Sandakan.
The ceremony was officiated by Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is on his third visit to the federal constituency of Batu Sapi.
Musa said Warisan’s Batu Sapi candidate, V K Liew, who was BN’s Sandakan MP, should now be treated as a traitor after agreeing to stand on a Warisan ticket.
“All these Warisan members who left the party today, they realised they get nothing by joining Warisan.
“They used to be working for the government, had important positions in the government. But now, they lost everything because of the opposition,” he said.
Musa, who is also Sungai Sibuga candidate for BN, said the coalition had repeatedly proven to be the best party for the people and had the best prime minister to boot.
Najib, he said, had never neglected Sabah and Sarawak and the people should be grateful to have a leader like him.
“I know voters in Batu Sapi know how to repay the government. They know, if candidates are good, they deserve the votes.
“The prime minister has been good to the people, the elderly, the disabled, women, youths, schoolchildren, by providing them with various aid and incentives including BR1M, cost of living allowance and many others.
“Our leaders are concerned about the people’s welfare and we don’t just say this, we have proof. These are facts. There is no country in the world with a government as good as BN,” he said.
Apart from the 754 Warisan members, Najib also accepted membership forms from 146 members of Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri and 120 members of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR). -FMT
