As cops comb his house for evidence, Najib breaks fast with mom

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak broke fast with his mother Rahah Mohammad Noah at the latter's house in Jalan Eaton, Kuala Lumpur.

His mother is the widow of second prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein.

A source close to Najib shared the photograph with Malaysiakini.

Various quarters, including Pakatan Harapan leaders, have questioned the need for the police to conduct a marathon search operation at Najib's residence.

Scores of police officers in more than a dozen vehicles arrived at the former premier's house in Jalan Langgak Duta in Kuala Lumpur about 10.30pm last night.

At about 4am, Najib's lawyer Harpal Singh Grewal told reporters that three to four boxes of handbags and other personal belongings were seized.

Harpal said no documents were taken, and believes that his client is being investigated for money laundering.

Media reports claimed that five locations were searched, including the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya.

The police are attempting to open a safe in Najib's house at present.

Harpal earlier claimed that the safe has been locked for two decades and the key misplaced.

He also described the drilling which started at 8.30am as harassment.

The police action comes in the wake of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad stating that Najib would be charged soon with regard to the 1MDB scandal.
