Cops in PMO raid find letter to Gani on eve of sacking – report

Police in their raid on the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya on Wednesday night reportedly discovered a letter drafted to former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail dated on the eve of his sudden termination on Jul 28, 2015.
According to Malay Mail, the letter titled “Investigations on 1MDB and other collateral issues to YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail” was dated July 27, 2015.
It was was found among documents related to 1MDB recovered during a high-level raid by senior police officers from Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crimes Investigations Department on the fifth floor of the PMO.
However, Malay Mail's report did not disclose the writer or the contents of the letter, except that it could shed light on Gani's controversial dismissal in the midst of the task force probe into the 1MDB scandal.
Gani was promptly replaced by Mohamed Apandi Ali, who subsequently cleared Najib of wrongdoing.
According to Malay Mail, other documents seized include a 13-point document related to the 1MDB case dated July 2015, and an undated document titled “Three Concerns on 1MDB”
They were found in a locked steel cabinet inside a room that had been used by Iskandar Mohd Kaus, the former principal confidential secretary of Najib.
The raid was prompted by a police report lodged with the Dang Wangi police station on Wednesday, said the daily, and the case has been classified under Section 409 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust by a public servant.
Following this raid, the police embarked on a massive raid on properties linked to Najib in Kuala Lumpur, which enters its third day today. - Mkini
