Cops shoot dead 2 robbery suspects at Damansara mall

PETALING JAYA: Police shot dead two suspects following a robbery attempt on a jewellery store at the Atria Shopping Gallery in Damansara Jaya here today.

Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said four suspects were arrested in the incident at about 5pm.

“We can confirm that there was a robbery incident involving a few suspects. Some of them were gunned down and some were caught,” he told FMT.

A witness, Sharmila Ganapathy, was quoted by The Star as saying she had heard shots from the jewellery shop on the sixth floor of the mall.

An 11-second video clip shared by netizens on Twitter showed three people lying sprawled motionless on the road.

Two men, believed to be plainclothes police officers, were seen brandishing their guns on two of the people lying down, while several other men surrounded the third a short distance away.

Another witness, Iskandar Arel Qudsi, said he saw six men running from the store and heading towards the west entrance of the mall.

“When they got out of the entrance, I heard multiple gunshots. And then cops came and told us to stay inside,” said the waiter at a coffeeshop in the mall. -FMT
