PUTRAJAYA: Heads will roll among Treasury officials who cannot justify their actions in bailing out debt-ridden 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), says Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
"Heads will roll for officials who are unable to provide written justifications for their actions," he told reporters at a press conference here on Thursday (May 24).
Lim was asked on action against Treasury officials who were complicit in bailing out 1MDB for its debt obligations.
On action against Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim and Khazanah Nasional Berhad's top management for bailing out 1MDB, Lim said that the issue must be evaluated fully.
Bank Negara paid some RM2.06bil to buy a piece of land from an MOF-linked company.
The land is strategically located next to Bank Negara's offices and museum at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur.
Khazanah's payment to MOF was done by redemption of certain shares amounting to RM1.19bil.
On Tuesday (May 22), Lim said that the ministry had paid some RM6.98bil to bail out 1MDB debt service obligations.- Star
