Paul Low confirms he was confronted by MACC's Mohd Shukri, says he tried to help

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Paul Low (pic) has confirmed that he was confronted by Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull after two of his officers were transferred out of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) when it was investigating 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Low - who was then a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department tasked to fight corruption - said he was confronted by Shukri, who was then MACC's deputy chief commissioner (operations), but there was not much he could do then.

“When the two officers were transferred (out), I did my best to transfer them back to the MACC,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (May 22).

MACC’s special operations division director Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zain and strategic communications division director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob were both transferred to the Prime Ministers Department in April 2017.

This was during the MACC's probe into the RM2.6 billion "Arab donation" and the RM42 million from SRC International which had ended up in the personal account of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Both amounts were credited into the private bank account of ex-prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Mohd Shukri, said he contacted both Low and another former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, for help to get his men back but received none. -Star
