Perlis MB sacked from Umno, told to step down

Perlis BN chairperson Shahidan Kassim has called on Azlan Man, who was sworn in as Perlis menteri besar this morning, to be sacked with immediate effect.

Speaking at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, he said Azlan should not have accepted the appointment claiming he did not have the support of the majority of the assemblypersons in the Perlis assembly.

He added he, as the state Umno chief, had sacked Azlan from the party, and he is awaiting the central party leadership to follow up.

“We have sacked Azlan effective today.

“After this, the central party leadership will make an announcement and issue a letter.

“Therefore now he is an Independent menteri besar,” said Shahidan.

With him at the press conference were the nine Perlis BN assemblypersons who had been absent at Azlan's swearing in this morning at the Perlis palace.
