PETALING JAYA – Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos has been arrested for deliberately showing his firearm in a photograph.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said police arrested Jamal at around 1.15pm on Tuesday (May 21) at the Ampang Puteri Hospital at Ampang.

“He has been arrested in connection with investigations into a case under Section 34 of the Firearms Act 1960,” he said in a statement Tuesday.

Section 34 refers to carrying a firearm while drunk or disorderly, and it carries a maximum one-year imprisonment or a maximum RM2,000 fine or both upon conviction.

“We received a report over the case on May 12. The suspect is currently in police custody while he receives treatment at the hospital,” he said.

Comm Mazlan added that there were several other cases the suspect was connected to which were still under investigation.

“There are also two arrest warrants which we will serve on the suspect once he has finished receiving treatment,” he said.
