Sarawak Report and Medium.com unblocked

Whistleblower website Sarawak Report and blog host Medium.com are now accessible in Malaysia again after being blocked for more than two years.
Sarawak Report played a pivotal role in exposing the 1MDB saga, beginning in 2014 with a series of articles exposing businessperson Jho Low's lavish parties with US celebrities.
It was in February 2015 when Malaysians tuned in to 1MDB news in earnest after Sarawak Report published leaked emails which allegedly proved that Low and his associates were siphoning billions from the company.
The emails were leaked by Xavier Justo, a Swiss national and former official at PetroSaudi International - 1MDB's first and short-lived joint venture partner.
However, the most damning articles written by Sarawak Reportrevolved around allegations that 1MDB funds made their way to the then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's bank accounts.
By July 2015, the Najib administration had removed then-deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and then-attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail from office for questioning and investigating Najib over the issue.
As part of the purge, Sarawak Report and Medium.com - which was used as a mirror for Sarawak Report's content - were blocked by the Communications and Multimedia Commission.
Protests by bloggers and business owners who used Medium.com as their host went unheeded.
Bukit Aman issued an arrest warrant against Sarawak Report's editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown, accused of being part of a massive conspiracy to topple Najib and BN from power by illegal means. -Mkini
