Tengku Adnan denies allegation he transferred state land

Former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has denied the accusation against him that he transferred plots of state land to private developers.
When contacted, Tengku Adnan told Malaysiakini: “The issue of these lands is a long-standing issue and no corruption is involved.”
He has been accused of illegally transferring 64 plots of land in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur to the Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, which he previously chaired, and was also accused of selling some of these lands to private developers for commercial developments.
Tengku Adnan said: “We are doing it according to the proposal, and we didn’t sell the lands instantly.”
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng and four residents from the Protect Taman Desa Coalition in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) lodged a report against Tengku Adnan with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) two days ago.
Responding to the report by Lim and the residents, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Mayor Amin Nordin said: "These 64 lots were sold to private developers have already been reported to MACC and the National Audit Department last year."
There is a tender process which must be followed before state lands can be transferred to developers, Amin explained.
Tengku Adnan said: “As for the development issue in TTDI or Taman Rimba Kiara, we sold the land plots to build Federal Territories housing (Rumah WIP).
“There is a concept of subsidy to help the KL citizens. We looked into the need (for the housing) and we don’t give it (land) instantly,” he said.
Plans to build 80,000 Rumah WIP
According to Tengku Adnan, the Federal Territories Ministry had drawn up plans to build more than 80,000 Rumah WIP and has sold some units already built to the people at an affordable price range.
“We have also provided a number of units free to the poor families,” he said.
Asked whether Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan is involved in the transfer of the lands, he said: “The issue in TTDI does not involve Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan. Hence, this foundation has no idea about the land in TTDI.
“Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan belongs to the Federal Territories Ministry to help Federal Territories citizens and poor citizens.

“As a former federal territories minister, I am ready to give cooperation to MACC and other parties on the reports against me.” -Mkini
