DAP's Manogaran files election petition for Cameron Highlands

DAP candidate for Cameron Highlands M Manogaran (above, left), who contested under PKR's banner, has filed an election petition to challenge the outcome of the May 9 general election result for the constituency.
The seat was won by BN's MIC candidate C Sivaraj (above, right). Manogaran faced a five-way contest against Sivaraj, Wan Mahadir Wan Mahmud of PAS, Mohd Tahir Kassim of Berjasa and B Suresh Kumar of PSM.
Sivaraj pulled in 10,307 votes against the 9,710 garnered by Manogaran.
Manogaran claims that Sivaraj and Jelai assemblyperson Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail had bribed and threatened voters - especially the Orang Asli community – in the constituency with what he said was "duit rokok" (financial inducement).

The application was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court through the firm of Messrs Kumar Associates.
Manogaran, who is also a lawyer, said former Federal Court judge Gopal Sri Ram and V Manokaran will be appearing for him.
