Rafizi asked to consider removing defamatory posts on blog

A lawyer for the National Feedlot Corporation and its chairperson Mohamad Salleh Ismail has asked PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli to consider removing his defamatory post on the company in its blog and on other sites by next week.
Otherwise, he will have to face the contempt proceedings against him moving ahead, the lawyer for NFC and Salleh, Noorfarhah Mustaffa, said today.
She said the parties have until June 13 to come back to the High Court in Kuala Lumpur to inform Justice Nik Hasmat Nik Mohamed, during case management, on the status of the case.
"This is for parties to inform the court as to whether Rafizi has agreed to take down the postings and whether we will continue with the contempt proceedings," Noorfarhah said.
On Jan 16, Rafizi applied to set aside the contempt proceedings against him after Justice Nik Hasmat had given leave to cite the former Pandan MP for contempt on May 23 last year.
The committal proceedings relate to two articles posted on Rafizi’s blog and four articles in ,, which are said to be related to NFC.
NFC and Salleh had sued Rafizi for defamation and another bench of the High Court had ordered to pay damages totalling RM200,000 and to remove the defamatory posts.

However, the suit by NFC and Salleh against Malaysiakini was dismissed by the court.
Last Friday, NFC and Salleh withdrew their appeal against Malaysiakini in the Court of Appeal. - Mkini
