Hanipa promises no cover-up on court clean-up mess

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohamed Hanipa Maidin has instructed for a full report be submitted on the quagmire that has led to staff of the KL courts – including judges – being made to clean up the complex themselves and wash the toilets.
“Kindly take note that I have instructed my officer to obtain a full written report from the officer in charge on this.
"I want a full and transparent report. No cover-up whatsoever," he said to Malaysiakini this morning, adding that he “means business.”
It was reported yesterday that janitors at the court complex had gone on strike due to allegedly not being paid.
According to The Star, cleaning staff have not received payment since Ramadan, despite the contractor having been paid by the government to provide janitorial services until the end of the year.
This has led to staff and judges having to clean their own toilets over the past few weeks.
Chief justice Richard Malanjum even called for a “gotong-royong" (mass volunteering) today to clean up the court complex. -Mkini
