NAJIB BLOWS THE CHILLY WINDS OF DEATH ON UMNO: NOT CONTENT WITH ALLEGEDLY STEALING BILLIONS, NAJIB STILL STIRS UP THE RACIAL HATE – ‘MALAY-MUSLIM RIGHTS RALLY SHOWS PEOPLE UNHAPPY WITH HARAPAN’

The Malay-Muslim rally today featuring more than 1,000 protesters shows that the public is not happy with the Pakatan Harapan government, said former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
He said events since May 9 have threatened Malay and Muslim institutions in the country.
“So they rose up on their own, because they are not comfortable with these (developments). Public support for Harapan is dropping further based on what they’ve done since May 9,” Najib told reporters in Sungai Kandis today.
The Himpunan Kebangkitan Ummah (Rise of the Ummah) rally at Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon was backed by some 300 Malay-Muslim NGOs.
Also present were Umno and PAS leaders, as well as former minister Rais Yatim who is now a Bersatu member.
On Rais’ attendance, Najib said the former was a champion of the Malay language.
“As a champion of the Malay language based on the federal constitution, his credibility would be questioned if he did not attend (the rally) or speak openly.” he said.
Rais was among 20 speakers today who raised their concerns over a host of issues, including proposed recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), alleged threats from the LGBT community, calls to strengthen the status of Bahasa Malaysia, as well as alleged loss of Malay reserve lands. – M’kini
About 1,000 participate in ‘Himpunan Kebangkitan Ummah’
KUALA LUMPUR: The ‘Himpunan Kebangkitan Ummah’ gathering at the Sultan Sulaiman Club field in Kampung Baru here was carried out peacefully with the participation of about 1,000 people.
Dang Wangi Police chief ACP Shaharuddin Abdullah said the organiser had applied for a permit on July 19 to hold the gathering today.
He said 40 policemen were deployed to handle the gathering.
The participants from various non-governmental organisations called for the upholding of the rights of the Malays, Islam and the preservation of Bahasa Malaysia among other things.
Among the leaders who participated in the gathering were former minister Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim, Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Sungai Kandis by-election Datuk Lokman Adam and PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.
