The National Palace administration launched the two-week collection campaign starting today in solidarity with the Agong's decree to contribute to Tabung Harapan Malaysia.
Th royal household comptroller, Wan Ahmad Dahlan launched the event today at the administrative office of the national palace. He was joined by 150 staff members.
"The launch of Tabung Harapan Malaysia campaign at the national palace level is a manifestation of our staff on the recent decree by His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
"The two-week collection campaign is a show of our patriotism in conjunction with the upcoming National Day in August.
"This is to show that the palace is also concerned with the current economic situation in the country and we would like to lend a hand to help the country as well," Wan Ahmad spoke to the press after the launch.
In June, Sultan Muhammad V decreed that he would be cutting his salary and emoluments by 10 percent throughout his reign as Agong until 2021.
The Pakatan Harapan government launched the Tabung Harapan on May 30 for Malaysians wishing to contribute towards easing the national debt and liabilities which is at RM1 trillion.
As of 3pm today, RM165 million has been collected under the fund. -Mkini
