PAS Secretary-General and Kota Bharu MP Takiyuddin Hassan made a remark that Anwar Ibrahim is unfit to be Prime Minister since Anwar was an ex-convict.
Takiyuddin's statement clearly shows disrespect to the Kelantan ruler Sultan Muhammad V, who was then the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, who granted full pardon to Anwar Ibrahim last year.
Requesting Takiyuddin to retract his statement now shall not suffice any longer. A disrespect to the Kelantan ruler had been committed.
Takiyuddin who is also a practising lawyer should clearly know his facts before issuing such statements to undermine the royalties and Anwar Ibrahim on his eligibility on becoming PM.
The authorities concerned should immediately take stern action against Takiyuddin Hassan for belittling and disrespecting the Kelantan Sultan.
Takiyuddin Hassan should be meted the maximum punishment so that it would be a lesson to others not to show disrespect to the rulers and to the rule of law. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
