It was a known norm that almost all the workers in the estate were Indians. Only today, this trend has somewhat changed, now mostly foreigners are engaged since they are cheap labour.
Muhammed Shafee Abdullah yesterday remarked that reporters should not behave like "estate people" over claims that former premier Najib Razak, his client, was allegedly seen taking some snap shots from the accused dock by using his mobile phone.
Being an Indian himself he would be having his roots to estates too. So easily people forget once they become "somebody".
I fully concur with a lot of Malaysians who grew up in the estates and also R Nadeswaran and JD Lovrenciear who said estate workers don't cheat and rob the nation's wealth for their own selfish benefits.
Shafee has forgotten history, the estate workers contributed tremendously to the growth and development of Malaya then and now Malaysia. To talk ill about estate workers is an insult. Today, a lot of estate workers are so successful and is wrong to degrade them.
Just because he is a 'high class' 'hotshot' lawyer and a Muslim convert, it is not proper to look down on anybody.
You come into this world with nothing and leave carrying nothing - all religions say this - Remember.
It's time for Shafee to make a formal APOLOGY to the Indians and Estate Workers immediately. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
