No more cash payments at India's High Commission

PETALING JAYA: The Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur will no longer be accepting cash payments.
Applicants seeking services there must now make payment with debit or credit cards effective Monday (July 1), in a move towards a total cashless system in line with one of the prime objectives of the Indian government.
"The High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur, in the first phase, is implementing the cashless system by using POS (point of sale) machines to receive payments only through debit or credit cards with effect on July 1, 2019 for services being rendered at the High Commission.
"In the second phase, we will provide an online portal where the payment can be made online.
"Simultaneously, we will provide POS machines to our outsourced agencies M/s IVS Global Services Private Limited and M/s BLS International to facilitate payment through debit or credit cards, and will do away with cash transactions," it said in a statement on Saturday (June 29).
The system is aimed at making the payment of fees and transactions easy and convenient for the applicants, it added.- Star
