I declared all my assets, says Jelutong MP

Jelutong MP RSN Rayer says he declared his earnings and assets after receiving instructions from the Prime Minister’s Office.
KUALA LUMPUR: Jelutong MP RSN Rayer today clarified that he had declared all his assets, including houses and cars, to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
This comes after opposition MPs questioned how MACC had declared that Rayer had zero assets despite him earning RM36,000 a month.
Rayer told FMT that he had declared his properties, including houses and cars, to MACC.
“I had signed a declaration form in front of a commissioner of oaths on Oct 10, 2018. I don’t know why MACC has declared that I have zero assets,” he said.
Earlier, Takiyuddin Hassan (PAS-Kota Bharu) said Rayer had declared a salary of RM36,000  a month but with zero assets.
This led to other BN MPs questioning why the DAP MP had declared zero assets in the MACC assets list.
However, Rayer said he had the forms to prove that he declared all his properties to MACC.
He said those who did not declare their assets were subjected to disciplinary action.
“After receiving the instructions from the Prime Minister’s Office, I declared all my earnings and assets,” he said.
Earlier today, de facto law minister Liew Vui Keong tabled a motion in the house to make it mandatory for all MPs to declare their assets.
Members of the opposition said they would oppose it as the manner in which it was raised was not according to law.
They want proper legislation to be introduced and signed by the attorney-general instead of tabling it only as a motion. - FMT
