GEORGE TOWN: A man ran amok today after his 74-year-old father refused to give him RM20, the second amok case in Penang after Monday’s incident in which police gunned down a factory worker who attacked his colleagues with a parang.
North Seberang Perai police chief Noor Zainy Mohd Noor said the man, 34, pointed a knife at his father and threatened to kill him.
“The son had allegedly said ‘saya akan bunuh hang’ while pointing a knife at his father.
“He then ran amok and went on to destroy furniture and other things in the house.”
Police have remanded the man, and are investigating the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
Police said he also tested positive for methamphetamine, and has four drug-related criminal records.
On Monday, police gunned down a factory worker who ran amok with a parang and slashed two of his colleagues at a factory in Bayan Lepas, leaving a woman worker dead and the security chief severely injured.
It was reported that the man had been undergoing a bout of depression and had handed in his resignation recently. - FMT
