MUHYIDDIN Yassin will meet Dong Zong’s Johor chapter and the Registrar of Societies tomorrow to discuss the Chinese education group’s deregistration.
The home minister said he was made to understand that the move against the state chapter of Dong Zong, or the United Chinese School Committees’ Association, was due to management issues and the group not following RoS regulations.
“I’ve received a report. Tomorrow, they (Johor Dong Zong) will come. I have invited RoS, too, and we will see what can be done. What we can correct, we will,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.
On Sunday, it was reported that Dong Zong had submitted a letter of appeal to the ministry regarding the state chapter’s deregistration.
Central committee member Low Chee Chong had said the state Dong Zong, on August 20, received a letter of deregistration dated August 8 from RoS’ Johor director, stating that the group did not provide an explanation for changes to its charter.
