MCMC TALKS BIG – BUT STILL CLOSING AN EYE WHEN IT COMES TO UMNO LEADERS? ISMAIL SABRI ACCUSES GUAN ENG OF BEING IN CHARGE OF HALAL CERTIFICATION WHEN IT IS JAKIM IN BID TO PROVOKE MUSLIM UNEASE – WHILE PAS LINKS GUAN ENG TO ISSUANCE OF FAKE MYKADS

KUALA LUMPUR – Umno vice-president Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob should apologise and retract his misleading statement about halal certification to avoid confusion among people, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Fuziah Salleh.
“The statement by the Umno vice-president is malicious, with the intention to stoke fear among the Muslims by inferring that the government is led by DAP.
“I want him to apologise and retract his statement to avoid misunderstanding about halal aspects in the religion, or face legal action,” she said in a statement this evening.
She said the accusation that halal logo certification was no longer under the purview of Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) but instead placed under the Ministry of Finance was misleading, false and malicious.
Fuziah was referring to a report by an online newspaper dated Sept 13 quoting Ismail in his speech during the Penyatuan Ummah gathering.
Fuziah stressed that the certification of the halal logo had always been under JAKIM and was never managed by any other agency.
“Under JAKIM’s Halal Management Division, JAKIM manages the certification aspects regarding procedures, halal definitions and lawful halal system compliance,” she explained.
She regarded the incorrect statement as an act of desperation by a leader hungry for public support.

DAP lodges report over posting linking Guan Eng to fake MyKad issue
IPOH – Perak DAP today lodged a police report over a Facebook posting by Bukit Gantang PAS linking the party’s secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng, to the fake MyKad issue.
The report was lodged by Perak DAP secretary Wong Kah Woh and Perak DAP Youth chief Steven Chaw Kam Foon at the Pekan Baharu police station.
In the posting, a picture of a MyKad was edited and superimposed with Lim’s photograph and overturned flags of China, Penang and DAP, with a caption that read, Pulau Pinang menjadi lubuk untuk membeli kad pengenalan kepada pendatang daripada China (Penang a hub for China immigrants to purchase identity cards).
Wong, who is also Ipoh Timur MP, described the posting as an attempt to tarnish Lim’s name as the former Penang chief minister, and the state government’s reputation.
He said the police report was lodged to enable the police to initiate an investigation against the owner of the Facebook account.
“This is a serious crime. When we talk about the freedom of speech, it doesn’t mean that it can be abused to achieve one’s political agenda,” he said.

Slander threatens national security, not to be condoned
THE act of spreading slander to create a negative perception of the  government and its leaders must never be condoned, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Eddin Syazlee Shith said.
He said this was because slander could threaten national security and unity.
“We are in an era of information technology, without borders. We do not deny the influence of social media as the main medium to disseminate information on the government’s policies and agendas, and as a link between the people and leaders.
“However, each citizen need to equip themselves with knowledge, exercise prudence and go by ethics when using social media,” he said, in his speech at the launch of the MyMerdeka Sayangi Malaysiaku: Malaysia Bersih 2019 in Seremban, today.
His speech was read out by Negri Sembilan State Unity, Information and National Integration committee chairman Choo Ken Hwa.
Eddin Syazlee said the wellbeing of the country is the collective responsibility of all Malaysians.
About the event, he said the programme was as a platform clearly convey the new government’s policies and information.
MyMerdeka Sayangi Malaysiaku’ programme, now in its fourth year, is aimed at fostering solidarity among the various races to establish a united nation.
