BSH payouts extended to disabled, middle-aged singles

The government's Cost of Living Aid (BSH) handouts have been expanded to include the disabled and singles aged above 40.
Under Budget 2020, disabled persons above the age of 18 and earning less than RM2,000 are entitled to receive BSH of RM300.
Additionally, single individuals above the age of 40 and earning less than RM2,000 per month will also receive RM300 BSH.
Both groups will also get insurance coverage under the MySalam scheme.,

Overall, RM5 billion will be allocated for BSH next year.
No announcements were made about increasing payouts.
BSH is a revamp of the BN-era 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M).
The current BSH plan sees families earning less than RM2,000 per month getting a payout of RM1,000; RM750 for those earning less than RM3,000; and RM500 for those earning less than RM4,000.
Each family receiving BSH also gets an additional RM120 per child, up to four children.
A BSH of RM100 for single youths in the B40 group was announced later this year, but it is unclear if there will be a payout for this group next year.
