DAP assemblymen leaving the party? Fake news, says Nga

Ipoh
IPOH: A message which has gone viral stating that several DAP assemblymen are leaving the party is not true, says Nga Kor Ming.
The state DAP chairman, in a brief WhatsApp reply, said the message was “fake news”.
"I am currently chairing the Parliament session, but the news is not true, ” he said.

According to the message state elections would be held soon as several DAP assemblymen had quit from the party to become independents.

The message also said to wait for further development.
At the same time, a letter, supposedly issued by the state Education Department, was also spread around the same time, stating that approval had been granted to inspect schools for polling stations in the state.
Commenting on this, state DAP executive councillor Howard Lee Chuan How said it was standard practice for the Election Commission to make visits to potential polling centres.
He said a polling district with its listed polling centres should not have more than a certain number of voters.
“So polling districts are added from time to time, and that requires visits.
“As to the speculations... Well, they are either that or down right fake news, ” he said.
State Communications and Multimedia committee chairman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim said it was a routine practice for the EC to carry out preliminary site visits.
He said the rumours about a state election was completely untrue.
“We will take action against those responsible in spreading such news, ” he added.
Another DAP exco member, Dr Aziz Abdul Bari, said the state government was stable.
“There are many “Nujum Pak Belalang”(fortune tellers) out there.
“I was before this also accused of planning a vote of no confidence to bring down the state government, and that had been proven not true, ” he added.
Referring to the letter, Aziz, who is also the Education state committee chairman, said government agencies had their respective standard operation procedures in carrying out their tasks.- Star
