Health ministry seeks 10,000 additional posts from JPA

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad has defended the government’s decision to put medical officers on contract during their entire two-year mandatory service with the government.
PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry is waiting for the go-ahead from two government bodies to approve over 10,000 additional slots, including for medical officers.
Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said that initially an application was made in July 2018 for 21,741 positions to the Public Service Department (JPA) and the Public Services Commission of Malaysia.
However, Dzulkelfy said the ministry was told to review the proposal.
“Therefore, applications for 10,675 positions were presented to these central agencies and are currently being considered,” he told reporters here today.
Dzulkefly also defended the government’s decision to put medical officers on contract during their entire two-year mandatory service with the government.
“The ministry is no longer able to absorb every single medical graduate as it is subject to available vacancies at hospitals.” - FMT
