YOURSAY | 'Time and again, Bersatu emerges as an unworthy coalition partner in Harapan.'
Fair Malaysian: The video of Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu claiming to be fighting a battle alone against DAP ‘factions’ to protect Malay interests and Islam is nothing surprising.
The DNA of Bersatu and Umno is the same, and this is the proof.
The possible answer from the menteri besar may be: It looks like me, it sounds like me, but it is not me; or that he had to “stage act” to those present to appease them.
Either way, he is screwed, but I will take this positively.
He will work hard to prove to his Pakatan Harapan colleagues that he did not mean what he said by going out of his way to “prove” his sincerity.
MS: Will Ahmad Faizal’s party Bersatu haul him up for sabotaging Harapan, especially when it is the lackeys from his party that wanted DAP central executive committee member Ronnie Liu to be scalped for criticising Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad?
This kind of ‘ketuanan Melayu’ backstabbing serves the spineless DAP right. I have no sympathy for any of them. Indeed, Liu was right about Bersatu.
Gaji Buta: DAP had disciplined Liu for saying negative things about Bersatu and Mahathir.
DAP needs to realise that the values of these people are not the same as what is commonly regarded as decent. There is no need to overdo and show that DAP is holier than thou and prim and proper at every chance you get.
No one is impressed. Liberal norms and values mean nothing in Malaysia.
Kangkung: Indeed, there is nothing shocking about this video. They all speak with forked tongue, even Mahathir.
Don't worry, tomorrow DAP leaders - now with their cushy jobs - will push this aside and say it is an isolated incident and do not reflect what is going on in the Harapan government.
Evin K: If this serious allegation is true, then the Perak menteri besar must resign with immediate effect.
Forget about the terribly insulting racism here, but you cannot have a Harapan menteri besar throw his own component party under the bus like this, regardless of his motivations.
Anonymous 2485381503371480: Yes, the Perak menteri besar must be sanctioned. Or the Harapan presidential council must convene to address this wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Don’t Just Talk: If it is proven that it is indeed the Perak menteri besar in the video, PKR and DAP should demand that he resigns and be replaced by a Malay state assemblyperson from PKR or DAP.
Bersatu needs to know that there are certain red lines not to be crossed.
Bersatu only has two seats in the Perak legislature, and yet Ahmad Faizal was appointed as menteri besar. He should not take matters for granted.
Lord Denning: Ahmad Faizal should be fired immediately. If another coalition partner did this, he would be crucified.
It is good to speak up about uplifting poor Malays and protecting the rights of workers and smallholders so that they are able to enjoy a better standard of living, but to indulge in such sectarian and racist diatribe against one’s own coalition partner is definitely something that should be taken seriously and unbecoming of any politician, least of all a menteri besar.
Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah should take him to task.
Hanafiah Puteh: Ahmad Faizal has proven Bersatu to be very much the Umno that we despised. All the talk about Bersatu being nothing like Umno is pure nonsense.
We should remember this video and kick Bersatu out in the next general election.
Intelligent Malays should join forces and form a pact to remove all these stupid irritants and take the Malays forward to a more respected level.
Otak-Otak: The truth is Mahathir is actually championing such despicable acts after he was successfully recycled, mainly due to the support of non-Malays, especially the Chinese Malaysians who reside both in and outside the country.
He is the one who has turned around to “bite the hands of those who had fed him.”
Gggg: DAP is slowly being played out by Bersatu.
First, they are facing a court case for allegedly supporting the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), and now they are being accused of going against the interest of Malays.
The menteri besar and Mahathir have got to go. DAP should take a stand and demand their resignations.
Black Thorn: Time and again, Bersatu emerges as an unworthy coalition partner in Harapan.
I guess it also shows that DAP has been played out in many ways, looking at all the troubles they have faced in the past few months.
No way the government can last the whole term with such treacherous people who still have the mentality of only protecting their own race.
Ahmad Faizal is not fit to be the menteri besar. He is such a disappointment. You are not the menteri besar that the people of Perak have voted for.
Joseph_183: Dear menteri besar, I guess you now have a wider audience to explain what you meant by your "lone battles".
We are all ears. - Mkini
