CORONAVIRUS | The two-year-old toddler suspected of the new coronavirus, whose parents refused to admit into isolation facility in Johor, has been detained by police last night.
Johor police chief Kamarudin Md Din told Malaysiakini that the family from Wuhan was apprehended when they were about to board a flight to Guangzhou, China.
He said the girl and her parents have since been handed over to the state health authority for further action.
"Yes, police have detained them at the Senai Airport about 9.20pm last night.
"They have bought tickets to Guangzhou to return to China. We have handed them over to the hospital," he said in a text message.
It was reported that a Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) doctor had to lodge a police report on Saturday morning after the parents refused to admit their daughter into hospital for isolation and further investigation, despite being diagnosed with viral fever and suspected to have contracted the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
The parents had gone to the government hospital at about 10pm on Friday after being referred there by a private health facility in the state. - Mkini
