Toll rates down 18% nationwide at midnight

PETALING JAYA: Tolls rates will be lowered by 18% at the stroke of midnight throughout Malaysia for highways operated by Plus Expressway.

The 18% reduction in toll is given to passenger vehicles, buses and taxis except for commercial vehicles.

The toll rates for private cars on Penang's Second Bridge will also be equated with toll rates new First Bridge of Penang after 18% discount starting Feb 1 2020.

PLUS Expressway operates the North-South Expressway, New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), Seremban - Port Dickson Highway (SPDH), North-South Expressway Central Circle (ELITE), Malaysia–Singapore Second Link (LINKEDUA), East Coast Highway Phase 2 (LPT 2), Butterworth - Kulim Expressway (BKE), Penang Bridge and Penang Second Bridge.
The current Pakatan Harapan government recently struck a deal with Plus Expressway that allows it a 20-year extension on collecting tolls until 2058.

However, from now until 2058, Plus is unable to increase toll rates until the expiration of the concession period.

Khazanah Nasional Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund maintains ownership of Plus Expressway at 51% and 49% respectively.
