IPOH: A school in Teluk Intan has been ordered to close, following an outbreak of influenza A (H1N1).
Perak Education Committee chairman Dr Abdul Aziz Bari said SM Sains Teluk Intan was closed on Sunday (Jan 11), after eight students were found to be H1N1 positive by the district health department.
Abdul Aziz said the temporary closure was to contain the outbreak from spreading to all 550 students in the school.
"The closure is done according to the standard operating procedure.
"The school is currently conducting clean-up works, especially at its hostel," he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 13).
"I understand the outbreak has also affected students in many other states.
"As of now, cases involving students in the state are under control," he added. -Mkini
