AS THE HAZE OVER BACKDOOR GOVT CLEARS, IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS ALL ABOUT KEEPING MAHATHIR PROPPED UP AS PM FOR ULTERIOR FUTURE SUCCESSION PURPOSES – UNTIL NAJIB, ZAHID & HADI REALIZED THEY HAD BEEN DUPED BY AZMIN CARTEL & MUHYIDDIN’S PARTY! AS EXPECTED, BERSATU MPs SAY THEY TOLD KING THEY BACK DR M AS PM – BUT WHAT DID UMNO & PAS TELL THE KING – AND THEN WITHIN HOURS RENEGE ON ‘SACRED VOW’ TO SUPPORT DR M

ALL Bersatu MPs have informed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of their support for Dr Mahathir Mohamad to continue as prime minister.

Party information chief Radzi Jidin said in a statement today that the leaders also rejected Dr Mahathir’s resignation as the party chairman.
“The party’s supreme council, which met on February 24 and was chaired by president Muhyiddin Yassin, has resolved to support Dr Mahathir as prime minister.
“The supreme council has also rejected Dr Mahathir’s resignation as party chairman,” he said.
“All our MPs who had audience with the Agong today expressed our support for Dr Mahathir to continue as prime minister.”
He also urged party members to remain calm and place all confidence on the leadership to handle the situation.
Bersatu has 26 MPs, including Dr Mahathir, who made a shock announcement to resign as prime minister and Bersatu chairman on Monday.
Soon after, Muhyiddin announced that Bersatu was pulling out of Pakatan Harapan, throwing the ruling pact into chaos, and resulting in it losing power at the federal level.
It has been reported that Dr Mahathir was unhappy with his party’s move to pressure him to join forces with Umno and PAS to replace PH at the federal level.
Following the political upheavel, the king has been conducting personal interviews with all MPs to ascertain who has the majority support to become the prime minister and to form the next government.
Last night, Umno and PAS said they had not named anyone as their candidate for prime minister, and had asked for the king to dissolve Parliament to make way for snap polls.
The remaining PH parties, meanwhile, are confident they have the sufficient numbers to form the government, although the question of whether Dr Mahathir will remain prime minister remains.
