GEORGE TOWN: Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng today said he would sit out tomorrow’s Penang assembly sitting after undergoing surgery to his left shoulder earlier this week.
Speaking to FMT, the Air Putih assemblyman said he went for surgery on Monday and was recently discharged from hospital after a two-night stay.
“I’m not attending the assembly so soon after surgery on doctor’s advice. It’s neither a major nor minor surgery, it is something in between. Took about an hour,” the former Penang chief minister said.
Lim, 59, said a steel clamp was inserted into his shoulder as a result of the surgery. The dislocation happened after a fall in the bathroom after a shower.
The governor will open tomorrow’s special state assembly session with assemblymen sitting apart and observing social distancing in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The assembly would be limited to the speaker, assemblymen and ex-officio members. Others are to watch the live telecast of the assembly online. - FMT
