Two is better than one, Anwar says on May Parliament sitting dates

Malaysiakini

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim agrees there is no need for Parliament to be in session for weeks but says the current proposal for a one-day sitting is too short.
He said a Parliament sitting must have a debate even if it is brief.
"I know it doesn't need weeks of debate, we can do it in two days," he said in a Facebook live video session today.
He said the number of MPs in attendance can be reduced to ensure that there can be social distancing in the Dewan Rakyat.
The sitting, which was originally planned for March 9 but was subsequently postponed to May 18, will now only be held for a day due to the movement control order being in effect to help combat the spread of Covid-19 which has claimed 86 lives to date.
The sitting would only consist only of the king's address with no oral question sessions, written questions, motions and special chambers sittings.
Anwar said Pakatan Harapan had proposed that a debate on Covid-19 be held, and nothing else but this was rejected by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
The PKR president said there is perception that the Perikatan Nasional government does not want to proceed with the Parliament sitting because it fears a vote of no-confidence.
"This means they are not confident about full support from the MPs," Anwar said. - Mkini
