Annuar: Umno-Bersatu to discuss GE15 seat distributions like 'brothers and sisters'

Malaysiakini

The distribution of seats between Umno and Bersatu will be discussed in the spirit of "brothers and sisters", according to BN secretary-general Annuar Musa.
Amid perceived strained ties between Umno and Bersatu over the issue, Annuar said seat distributions between them ahead of GE15 would be resolved through internal channels.
"We will continue to discuss the issue like brothers and sisters," the Federal Territories Minister told reporters when met after the launch of the Jom BB campaign at Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur, today.
On Thursday, Annuar hinted in a tweet that BN would be defending all of the seats it contested for and won in GE14.
This is despite its new pact for GE15 that also includes Bersatu, then part of opposition Pakatan Harapan.
Commenting further, Annuar said seat distributions must be discussed internally to avoid the rakyat from being caught up with extreme politickings.
"Our focus is to help the people, we must help traders and others in need.
"The government can't always play up political issues," said the Ketereh MP.
Among disputed seats include the Mersing parliament, currently held by Rural and Regional Development Minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad, who won the seat on a BN ticket but defected to Bersatu after Harapan's GE14 victory.
Umno recently hit out at Abdul Latiff over his statement claiming the party is no longer relevant in Sabah.
Abdul Latiff has since apologised although Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party is adamant to contest Mersing in GE15. - Mkini
