JB rep steps in to help unite Singaporean man with ailing wife

Malaysiakini

Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasir has offered to assist a Singaporean man to gain entry into the country to be with his Malaysian spouse.
CA Mahendran earlier told Malaysiakini that he got separated from his wife - A Kavitha - after both countries sealed their borders.
A diabetic with foot ulcers, Mahendran desperately sought permission to enter Malaysia to provide her medical attention.
Taking to Facebook, Akmal said he visited Kavitha in her Johor Bahru home this evening after reading about their plight in the news.
“I have gotten a copy of her documents, including her health records.
“God-willing, I will go to the Johor Immigration office tomorrow morning and submit the documents,” said the PKR representative.
Kavitha, 51, has been living alone for the past three months. She has trouble walking due to her wounds and has not been able to make trips to a clinic or hospital to dress her feet.
After a June 22 announcement that foreign spouses would be allowed to enter Malaysia once they obtained “approval” from the Immigration Department, Mahendran made numerous applications but was overlooked.
The 58-year-old claimed to have sent the department at least “10 emails” but has not received a reply.
Earlier today, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that foreign spouses who did not have a spousal visa could enter Malaysia once they present necessary documents to the Immigration Department. - Mkini
